At the supermarket checkout counter, I’m frequently asked the following question:
Looking at a vegetable, the cashier will ask, “What is this, ma’am?”
“Collards…It’s organic collards,” I reply.
The collard greens at the supermarket have large leaves.
My questions are:
- Do people confuse the different types of leafy greens?
- Do people confuse the different types of bitter tasting leafy greens?
- Do people eat canned collard greens, so they have tasted collards but they don’t recognize the original form of collards in the produce section of the supermarket?
Any thoughts?
